NEXT WAVE: TEEN RADIO ACADEMY AMPLIFYING AMERICA'S YOUTH ARTxFM's NEXT WAVE: TEEN RADIO ACADEMY is a summer learning adventure that provides Louisville area high school students with the skills they need to become professional broadcasters. At the Academy, student DJs get hands-on experience with the ART FM studio equipment and obtain the FCC training required for FM Broadcasting nationwide. WXOX Next Wave Teen Academy. Class of 2024. Photograph by Aron Conaway The Academy takes place at the WXOX 97.1 FM studio in downtown Louisville, Kentucky near Spalding University. Registration is open to teenagers -- rising 9th Grade and above. Courses are taught by WXOX DJs and resident teenagers. No experience is required but there is an advanced track for students returning to the program. Scholarships are available and all participants emerge with a Next Wave Certificate. During the course of the week, each student will produce a live radio program that will be broadcast on WXOX 97.1 FM and 100.9 FM in Louisville and worldwide on www.artxfm.com.
