WXOX @ Folklife 2025 EMERGING MEDIA MAKERS  Emerging Media Makers Amalia Cordova, Curator Kristen, Jeffery, & Mimi, AIB Interns 2025 Smithsonian Folklife Festival Interviewed by WXOX GM Sharon Scott July 7, 2025 In this, the final interivew of the Folklife Festival, ART FM General Manager Sharon Scott speaks with area curaator Amalia Cordova along with Mimi, the arts educator who volunteered all week at the ART FM booth, as well as Folklife Interns Kristen and Jeffery. In this discussion they shared their experience in 2025 and expressed hopes for 2026. Amalia Córdova is a Supervisory Museum Curator at the Smithsonian Institution’s Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage. During the 2025 Smithsonian Folklife Festival "Youth and the Future of Culture" she was the head curator for the Emerging Media Makers area in the Arts and Industries Buuidling where the WXOX Remote Studio was located. Amalia also co-directs the Mother Tongue Film Festival. She was a Latin American program specialist for the Film + Video Center of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian, served as Assistant Director of New York University’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, and taught at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She obtained a Ph.D. in Cinema Studies and an M.A. in Performance Studies, both from New York University. She is from Santiago, Chile / Wallmapu.
