WXOX @ Folklife 2025 FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez Commissioner Anna Gomez Federal Communications Commission Interviewed by Lila Hayden & Max Cash WXOX Next Wave Academy 2025 Smithsonian Folklife Festival Youth & the Future of Culture July 3, 2025 Commissioner Gomez took time out of her busy day to speak with the WXOX Next Wave students about her job at the Federal Communications Commission.&nbps; She discussed the her career beginning as a student in Columbia to her becomming a Presidental appointment in 2023.&nbps; Commissioner Gomez emphasized the importance of free speech and community radio stations such as WXOX that provide community members with access to the FM airwaves.
