WXOX @ Folklife 2025 ANDES MC & EBER MIRANDA Andes MC & Eber Miranda Hip Hop Musicians 2025 Smithsonian Folklife Festival Participants Interviewed by Max Selby & DJ SoTek Translator: Shawna WXOX Next Wave Academy July 6, 2025 EBER MIRANDA Hailing from El Alto, Bolivia, more than two miles above sea level, Eber Miranda is part of the first generation of hip-hop artists to rap in their Native American languages.  Since 2005, he has mixed folkloric and traditional music with American hip-hop beats, rhyming about life in Bolivia as well as universal themes. His art is inspired by the work done to revitalized the Indigenous Andean languages of Aymara and Quechua;  he also studied linguistics and works as an Aymara-language teacher.  Miranda is a proud Aymara and comes from a family of traditional Native farmers on the Altiplano ANDES MC Carlos Andres Orellana Patiño, aka Andes MC, is a rapper, singer, and songwriter.  He grew up surrounded by music, but hip-hop was the genre that captured his attention.
