WXOX @ Folklife 2025 Francis Lighter, Center for Folklife & Cultural Heritage Francis Lighter, Department of Advancement Center for Folkife and Cultural Heritage Interviewed by Max Selby WXOX Next Wave Academy July 7, 2025 The mission of the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage is to connect communities across cultures—cultivating curiosity, understanding, and belonging for all people.  The Center develops public resources that strengthen community identity, health, and vitality, yet federal funding covers only a portion of what they need to continue and expand this important work. The continued existance of the Smithsonian Folklife Festival depends of individual donations to contiue and expand their important work.  On the final morning of the 2025 Festival, WXOX DJ Max Cash spoke to Francis Lighter, a represntative from the Department of Advancement at the Center for Folkife and Cultural Heritage, about their work and why indiviudal donations are critial in keeping the Folklife Festival alive!
